Abstract:

An automated seismic qualification process is presented which integrates the modeling and evaluation aspects of supported system design. Emphasis is placed on baseplate and joint design. Failure mode analysis is introduced as a means for determining hanger load capacity and effective spring/mass properties. Non-dimensional failure mode criteria highlight weak links in the design, establish margin, and provide for easily verified documentation of both hanger and system.
