Part of: Cold Regions Construction: A State of the Practice Report

Abstract:

The quest for energy and other riches of the earth in the north regions, the establishment of permanent scientific and defense stations in cold regions, the high cost of project and construction financing, and the increased need to have projects 'returning' the investment as soon as possible are a few of the contributors to new emphasis on cold regions construction. This emphasis has placed new demands on the ability to place and protect fesh concrete, both plastic and recently hardened, from the destructive effects of cold weather.
