A model for correlated sustained live loads is outlined. The live loads are assumed to be gamma distributed random variables. It is shown that already small correlations between loads can substantially increase the probability that the sum of the loads exceeds a specified level. The asymptotic behavior of the cumulative distribution function is derived by Laplace transform methods.
