Abstract:

As computer use mushrooms, more and more operators find they lack confidence that the computer is generating correct output. The author, a creator of computer software, offers several methods to boost user confidence including care in obtaining software, maintaining consistent terminology between programs, careful selection of input-output displays, and increased practice time for users. Cost comparisons are offered for several methods of obtaining adequate software.
