Abstract:

This volume contains the papers submitted for presentation at the Second Conference on Computing in Civil Engineering held in Baltimore, Maryland, from June 10 through 13, 1980. The topical areas addressed within the thirty sessions held at the conference represent a wide spectrum of current computer applications. Applications of computer graphics are discussed in relation to building design, structural engineering, hydraulic transients simulation and terrain modeling. Software methodologies and software aids for standards development and use are presented. Trends in computerized structural analysis are assessed. The use of computers in structural design, highway planning and water resource development is also covered. The conference was sponsored by the ASCE Technical Council on Computer Practices, Structural Division Committee on Electronic Computation of ASCE, the Society for Computer Application in Engineering Planning and Architecture, the ICES Users Group, Inc., and the Highway Engineer Exchange Program. Local sponsors of the conference were the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Maryland and the Maryland Section of the ASCE.
