Abstract:

The Third ASCE/EMD Specialty Conference is sponsored by ASCE with the Departments of Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics. The theme of the conference is commensurate with the previous two EMD Specialty Conferences in that emphasis was placed on contributions and advances in the areas of solid and fluid mechanics that add to the state of civil engineering practice. These proceedings contain 206 contributed papers as well as the text of two keynote addresses by Egor Popov and Ted Wu that were available at the time of publication. Publication of the contributed papers in these proceedings will not preclude publication of regular length papers in one of the ASCE journals or elsewhere through regular review channels. A total of 54 sessions have been scheduled for the conference. These sessions were formed from solicited abstracts that were reviewed by the ten EMD technical committees and the local Publications Committee.
