Serial Information: Civil Engineering—ASCE, 1977, Vol. 47, Issue 5, Pg. 52-55Document Type: Feature article
Abstract:
The Hackensack Meadowlands Project, which includes a stadium and a racetrack, has reclaimed from the ravages of man and nature a portion of an undevelopable marshland that is larger than Manhattan; improved its own environment and its neighbors'; created a major recreational complex to be enjoyed by millions in the years to come; and inspired a boom in planned private construction that will preserve the delicate balance of nature. This huge project is one of this year's nominees for the Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award.
