Abstract:
In this Eighth Offshore Technology, the 300 papers and 1,300 exhibitors will be related to such topics as semi-submersible drill rigs, pollution avoidance devices, equipment protection, human safety, analysis of offshore structures, deepwater drilling hardware, and mapping of the ocean floor. Paper topics include the world's first floating city, Aquapolis, which is floating just off Okinawa, Japan; pollution minimization at conventional pier and sea island facilities; fatigue failure due to ocean waves; axial strength of cylindrical columns; template strength and installation; wave forces on pipes near the ocean bottom; carbonate content; and underwater pile driving.
