by Abel Banov, Consultant; New York, N.Y.,

Serial Information: Civil Engineering—ASCE, 1976, Vol. 46, Issue 2, Pg. 64-67

Document Type: Feature article

Abstract:

Recent advances in coatings materials and their application make possible improved protection of structures in normal or aggressive environments. Shopcoating and field application are compared. The importance of proper surface preparation, particularly when high performance coatings are used to protect metal in corrosive atmospheres is stressed. The first article described chemical families, functional pigments, and how to specify a high-performance coating system. This second and last article describes how to apply them, and trends in application.
