Satellites Helping Solve Some Down-to-Earth Civil Engineering Problems

Serial Information: Civil Engineering—ASCE, 1975, Vol. 45, Issue 8, Pg. 49-53

Document Type: Feature article

Abstract:

With its ERTS (Earth Resources Technology Satellite) and other satellites and U2 high-flying aircraft, NASA is generating much remote sensing information about the condition of the atmosphere, earth, and oceans. Much of this information, as this article points out, is being used in civil engineering applications. NASA is seeking feedback from civil engineers about what they like and don't like about the space agency's remote sensing program. Efforts are underway to make the program more relevant to civilian needs.
