A new formula is developed to determine the plate thickness of stiffened light gage members. Based on the concept that intermediate stiffeners transform the plate into an orthtropic plate, this new formula is more rational and provides better approximation of the post-buckling range. This is especially true if the stiffeners are attached to the sheets rather than formed by corrugation of the sheet.
