The design of the second Los Angeles Aqueduct presents interesting engineering considerations relating to large diameter steel pipe. The design criteria used by engineers of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power in preparing the design plans and specifications for one portion of this $105,000,000 project is presented. The section discussed is the Antelope Valley Pipeline, which will consist of 14 miles of 87-in. inside diameter pipe.
