The performance and design of the more common types of high strength bolted moment connections are discussed. Experimental and analytical results are presented on: (1) T-stub web-to-beam flange connections, (2) T-stub flange-to-column connections, (3) assembled T-stub connections, and (4) end plate connections. Among the specific topics covered are: The ultimate resisting moment of a beam with bolt holes in both flanges and the circumstances under which prying forces develop between a tension T-stub or an end plate and its supporting column, and the magnitude of these prying forces. Elastic and plastic design of bolted moment connections are suggested.
