Runway Visibility in Thick Fog

The need to determine the visual range in thick fog is critical. To safely land and take off aircraft in heavy fog, adequate visual aids must be provided. Because of the inconstant nature of fog, pilot training is difficult. Consideration should be given to fog modification by man-made means.
