Abstract:

Equations and mathematical values for columns considering interaction among axial thrust, end bending moment, and slenderness for elastic pin-ended member of variable cross section subjected to concentrically applied axial thrust and various combinations of end bending moment; algebraic interaction relationships are obtained for combination of loads and slenderness that result in elastic limit being reached at most highly strained section along length of member.
