Serial Information: Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division, 1961, Vol. 87, Issue 6, Pg. 1-18

Document Type: Journal Paper

Comparison of geological conditions and uplift pressures at several dams observed during last 20 yr; in general, values selected for these dams have been conservative, as indicated by uplift observations, but in several instances uplift pressures higher than design assumptions have been observed; design of grouting and drainage system; use of piezometers to observe uplift at foundation; application of additional drainage holes.
