This paper describes the design of a large single unit extension to an historic steam electric station. Unusual features include a condenser cooling water system with a deep discharge shaft and tunnel in rock, a single concrete pedestal supporting separate high and low speed sections of a cross-compound turbine-generator and a stack meeting stringent air pollution criteria.
