Calibration of a Submerged Broad Crested Weir

by Richard A. Smith, (M.ASCE), Prof. and Acting Head; Dept. of Civ. Eng., Louisiana Polytechnic Inst., Ruston, La.,

Serial Information: Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1959, Vol. 85, Issue 3, Pg. 1-16

Document Type: Journal Paper

Paper treats calibration, or correlation of variables, even though weir is completely submerged and tail-water phenomena control discharge; it shows that for free overfall, discharge is function of head on weir, but for submerged condition discharge is function of degree of submergence; compute discharge, compared with observed discharge, showed deviation of 2%.
