Abstract:

Design of rolled earth dam may be influenced significantly by materials available from excavations for appurtenant spillways, outlet works and powerplant; magnitudes of these excavations for 32 major dams designed by Bureau of Reclamation are listed together with 3 examples of their influence on embankment design.
