An interactive program, based on a method of feasible directions, for solving a constrained minimization problem with time-dependent constraints is described. The interaction, involving both alphanumeric and color-graphic display, permits the designer a number of options, including, changing parameters in the problem or design algorithm, Single steping through any loop in the algorithm, and displaying relevant data, writing small macro programs to perform an unforeseen test or computation, and performing side calculations. An example to demonstrate the advantages of user interaction in reducing computational effort is included.
