A unified data base design was chosen for the management information system of Camp Dresser & McKee, a multidivisional environmental engineering firm. Support for project management is integrated with information requirements for corporate planning, personnel, and accounting. This paper describes the project information structure and reporting that were selected to: (1)Support divisional responsibility; and (2)foster interdivisional cooperation without sacrificing focus on the firm's overall performance at the contract level. System design criteria for flexibility with respect to a wide variety of projects are also described.
