Another Look at Buckling of Circular Arches

A method is developed for the stability analysis of uniformly loaded circular arches without recourse to the well-known assumptions of the shallow and inextensional arch theories. It is shown that the critical loads (both of limit and bifurcationtype) can be expressed in terms of a combined problem parameter in the form of highly accurate asymptotic formulas.
