This paper contains a description of the current state-of-the-art of seismic design criteria and design procedures for pipelines, and associated facilities and structures. The criteria pertain to both aboveground and belowground pipelines and includes consideration of such factors as the earthquake hazard, design seismic motions and response spectra, and geotechnical factors affecting design.
