Proceedings of the 2003 International Symposium on Deepwater Mooring Systems: Concepts, Design, Analysis and Materials, held in Houston, Texas, October 2-3, 2003. Sponsored by the Offshore Technology Research Center; Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute of ASCE. This collection contains 24 papers reflecting recent advances made in deepwater mooring systems. Offshore oil and gas drilling and production activities are being pushed into deeper and deeper waters. To reduce cost while achieving high safety standards, many innovative concepts for floating structures are being developed and deployed. Topics include: state of the art of innovative concepts; experimental, analytical and numerical tools; new materials used in designing a deepwater mooring system new models for a systems interactions with the floating structure, anchor foundation, and accompanying riser system. Ocean engineering professionals will find this volume a valuable reference. |
