Abstract:

Dewberry & Davis is under contract to the Fifth Planning District Commission (5th PDC) to prepare the Roanoke Valley Regional Stormwater Management Plan. The Plan, which will address flooding problems along tributaries to the Roanoke River, is the first in the nation to receive a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) hazard mitigation matching grant. The Plans are also unique in that not only does it study flooding problems and recommend solutions to mitigate flood damages, it also lays the ground work for implementing, i.e., fund and construct, the recommended flood mitigation projects. This presentation provides a historical overview and a description of the phases of the Plan and presents the status of the Plan.
