Abstract:

The diversity of climatic, geomorphologic, and soil conditions causes significant space differences in the conditions of river flood formation in Ukraine. The Carpathians region is the most dangerous as a area of catastrophic floods formation. The flood danger is pre-conditioned by the fact that floods spread on the territory with intensive economic activities and large density of population. So economical, ecological, and social damage of the floods is very significant. Taking into consideration the appropriate conditions for flood formation with catastrophic consequences, the necessity of creation of the effective system of river floods warning in Ukraine becomes urgent.
