Abstract:

Many authors have suggested ways to evaluate water well efficiency. Most of these have either compared some form of measured drawdown with theoretical drawdown or measured the fraction of laminar head loss to the total head loss. Both of these approaches are flawed theoretically and practically. This paper investigates the background of these approaches and shows their weaknesses. The authors propose a more rigorous method of evaluating well efficiency by comparing the functional relatiouships between the actual discharge drawdown curve versus the curve produced by a properly developed well.
