Abstract:

A modification of the standard delta profile method was used to estimate the sediment profile in a dry flood control basin. Dry flood control basins do not have a normal operating pool elevation and are subject to significant variation in water surface elevation during a flood event. The modification to the delta profile method was required since other standard methodologies for determining the sediment distribution are based on reservoirs with a normal operating pool. This paper discusses the application of the modified delta profile method.
