Abstract: A Tension Leg Platform (TLP) system consists of many components. Each component has strong influence on the analysis and design of others. Therefore, the design of a TLP is an iterative process. While a variety of engineering disciplines are involved in that process, the subjects chosen for inclusion in the book are hydrodynamics, structural mechanics, environmental considerations, materials selection, and model testing that are used in the analysis and design of TLPs. Although there might be some duplication, each chapter is written so that it helps the reader understand the basic principles while at the same time giving the designer enough information for his design. Consequently, each chapter stands alone and can be used independently.
