Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to introduce the application of a two-dimensional Finite Element Surface Water Modelling System on a navigation problem located along the Nile river in front of El-Menya bridge, (250 km south of Cairo). The FESWMS-2DH [1] was used to simulate steady flow at the area under investigation. FESWMS-2DH was developed for the U.S. Federal Highways Administration by the water resources division of the U.S. Geological survey.
