Abstract:

Computer-aided structural analysis is a mature field. However, recent research has produced advances in the areas of automated modeling, multi-processing, and programming techniques. The paper describes recent research on structural analysis using an object-oriented approach, in which substructures play a major role in the analysis model. The paper briefly reviews substructure concepts, and then describes an object-oriented approach to structural analysis using substructures. Object classes and relationships between object classes are outlined.
