Abstract:

The analysis of the climate sensitivity of the water supply system of the Boston area indicates that the water supply has the potential to be dramatically altered by global warming. The impacts of the possible scenarios range from a near 40 percent increase in the safe yield of the reservoir system to a decrease of more than 40 percent. Responses to potential reductions in the safe yield of the existing water delivery system may carry a high cost.
