Abstract:

The paper presents an optimization algorithm for the design of space trusses subjected to constant value constraint. The goal of the optimization is a structure of the highest multiple natural frequency. The optimization algorithm is based on the recently developed optimality conditions which are true for multiple frequency constraints. In all the previous papers in this field, the Kuhn-Tacker conditions were used. However, it was proved that they were not applicable in the case of multiple eigenvalues problems. In the present paper, finite element method was used as a tool to obtain numerical results. The optimization algorithm was implemented in an automated structural optimization computer code.
