Abstract:

Building design is interdisciplinary by nature. Indeed, the collaboration of architect and structural engineer is critical to the success of building design projects. Yet with few exceptions these two professionals do not know, or even care to know, much about each other. This paper is an attempt to answer two questions: Why is it important to bridge the gap between architecture and engineering, and how is this accomplished.
