Closing the Gap: Transit Revenue Opportunities

by Thomas M. Richert, Delon Hampton & Associates, San Diego, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Automated People Movers IV

Abstract:

The LandEagle Project is based on the premise that public transit systems can be financially self sustaining; an idea usually greeted with wonder and amazement. This paper explores methods of generating new income streams for Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) systems through the incorporation of value-added services. These new income streams provide an opportunity to close the gap between transit costs and transit revenues.
