Abstract:

This paper describes experimental as well as analytical studies of the post elastic deformation and fracture behaviors of wide flange steel encased reinforced concrete (SRC) composite short columns subjected to combined bending and shear. Firstly, monotonic tests are carried out to clarify the effects of shear span ratios and width-thickness ratios of steel flange. Then, for analysis, SRC columns are decomposed into R/C part and STEEL part, and macro models are developed for each part. Results from deformation analysis are compared with those obtained from tests, and the composite actions of concrete and steel are discussed.
