Abstract:

A BroadBand Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (BroadBand ADCP) was used to survey tidal currents at Shinnecock and Moriches Inlets, Long Island, NY. Measurements were made remotely form a survey, vessel, at regular intervals throughout the water column. The Continuous data collected along the measured transects provides the cross-sectional velocity distributions and reveals large scale eddies occurring at channel sides of the inlet near jetty heads during the flood phase of tides.
