Abstract:

Observation of debris flow and topographic survey for mass wasting in the volcanic torrents clarified that (1) mass wasting processes such as rock fall from the side-wall and toppling of sidewall of gully are distinctive depending on the topographic, and hydrologic conditions, (2) eruptive activity of volcano remarkably promotes the occurrence of debris flow and (3) debris flow transforms from a fully developed one to a hyperconcentrated one as it runs down to gentler slope.
