Abstract:

Drag characteristics of spherical particles in clay suspensions, such as coarse sediment in hyperconcentrated flows, has been analyzed by using a limited data available in the literature. Based on this analysis and previous one conducted by the author, a method for determining the terminal fall velocity of spherical particles in clay suspensions is proposed. For settling characteristics of natural sediment with non-spherical shapes in clay suspensions, a new experiment is needed.
