Abstract:

Technical Release No. 21 (USDA-SCS, 1970) has been used in the U.S. and around the world to design and manage irrigation projects. However, many advancements in predicting crop water use have occurred over the past 20 years. With this in mind, state-of-the-art procedures were developed to allow the USDA-SCS to estimate irrigation water requirements. The procedures are documented in Chapter 2, Irrigation Water Requirements of the USDA-SCS National Engineering Handbook, Section 15, Irrigation. This manuscript provides an overview on Chapter 2, which is scheduled for printing in 1993.
