A Log-Triangular Design Hyetograph for Stormwater Management

Abstract:

A method is developed to generate a log-triangular design hyetograph from historical rainfall data. The method considers the characteristics from other commonly used methods for design storm patterns. This new method is applied to hourly rainfall data of Tsui-luan and Taipei, Taiwan to obtain the design hyetographs of 24-hr duration. Statistical criteria are used to compare the performance of the log-triangular method with other seven methods. It can be shown that the log-triangular method gives favorable result.
