by Yury D. Shuisky, Univ of Odessa, Odessa, Ukraine,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Coastlines of the Black Sea

Abstract:

The length of the Ukrainian Black Sea coast between Danube delta and Kerch Strait is 1628 km. Abrasive cliffs with rates of abrasion from 0.1 to 4.7 m/y (average multi-year data) are common. Abrasive coasts constitute 29.9 % or 468 km of the total length. Quantitative data have been collected on abrasion relationship with coast geology, wave energy, drift volume, nearshore slope and cliff height. A regional model has been developed for each relationship.
