Abstract:

It is evident that the time scale required for equivalent functioning of created marsh, seagrass and oyster habitats in terms of LMR utilization is on the scale of years. Even after two years of created marsh and seagrass development these habitats have still not taken on many of the characteristics of their natural counterparts in terms of LMR utilization. It is important that future work examine not only methods to accelerate the development of these created habitats and their principle functions but also the long term (five years or more) function of these habitats relative to natural counterparts.
