Abstract:

Oil and gas activities conducted on the Alaska Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) are subject to multiple Federal laws which result in safe operations and environmental protection. Lessees proposing to conduct activities are required to submit and obtain approval of a variety of permits and authorizations prior to conducting activities on the OCS. This paper describes the numerous laws and regulations implemented by Federal Agencies and the major permits and authorizations pertaining to OCS oil and gas operations.
