Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Infrastructure: Planning and Management

Abstract:

Airport capacity limitations and the resulting congestion and delay plague the U.S. airports and airways. There is a need for increased investment in airport infrastructure. More importantly there is a need for development of a airport infrastructure management system that addresses capacity enhancement, maintenance, and safety needs for both airside and landside; and provides cost, funding and priorities for the required investments. The paper discusses airport infrastructure problems and current airport infrastructure management practices and proposes the design of an airport infrastructure management system.
