Abstract:

This paper discusses the benefits of managing construction change orders with computers over manual methods. Construction contracts formulate change procedures that are often at odds with the industry's practices. The inevitable changes on construction projects require an administrative process, which can be streamlined with computer applications. The last decade delivered automation at a low cost to the fingertips of many contractors. Contract control software tracks change orders and establishes an administrative recall that enhances change management. Scheduling software predicts the effects of changes prior to the submission of impact claims. Integrating these applications fine-tunes change order management. Administrative automation is needed to support timely notification, maintain records, and predict the impact of changes on the time and money constraints.
