Abstract:

This paper describes computational formulation of vibratory equations for acquiring response and input ground motion from accelerogram on the base of long structure with flexible slab. All vectors on structural acceleration, velocity and displacement except those corresponding to rocking and sway motions are replaced into the unknowns representing horizontal distance from vertical axis in accordance with the center line of the base. Therefore left-hand side matrix of simultaneous equations includes antisymmetric elements. Finally the input ground motion is given by subtracting sway motion due to lateral deflection of soil spring from absolute acceleration observed at the base.
