Abstract:

Interferences between building components during construction is an inherent byproduct of multiple disciplines designing their components separately. Manual solution techniques for detecting these interferences are time consuming and unreliable. Since interferences that are found during construction are costly, detection of interferences during the design phase is desirable. When a project is modeled in 3-D in a computer, an interference detection program can check for interferences prior to construction. A program which provides a more exhaustive interference check than manual techniques will lead to a cleaner building for construction.
