Abstract:

The proposed integrated building design system consists of a product modeling framework represented by a general product model and several partial knowledge bases, a conventional CAD system, different application tools and an application interface management system. The object-oriented approach for the product modeling framework provides a method for referencing different semantic and representational aspects defined by separate knowledge sources,by means of inheritance, delegation and adjacency relationship links. The developed concept gives a solution to important cooperative design issues, such as: object evolution, multiple design perspectives and automated interdisciplinary consistency checking.
