Abstract:

The user interface of a CAD system appears to the users to be the system itself. Thus its design is very important. For this reason the committee 4.2.1 'Computer Aided Design' of the Gesellschaft fuer Informatik (GI - the German membership organization of the International Federation for Information Processing IFIP) has established a task working group for the development of recommendations for CAD user interfaces. This article describes the development, documentation, and discussion of the recommendations and gives an overview of the results.
